Emily + Mark :: Wausau, Wisconsin Wedding Photography

No January chill could dampen Emily and Mark's wedding day :) They snuggled in close and let the warmth of their love and the love of their family and friends warm their Wisconsin winter wedding. Emily and Mark were married at Saint Ladislaus Church in Hately. The church was still decorated from Christmas and the winter light streaming through the stained glass window gave the church a cozy glow. After their lovely ceremony and exchange of vows, they headed to their reception at Stoney Creek Inn in Wausau. Emily and Mark cuddled in close for photos on the red covered bridge behind the reception hall as the January sun set. To complete their perfect day they danced the night away to a polka band. Can a Wisconsin wedding be any better? Probably not :) Congratulations on your marriage Emily and Mark!!!

Recent Winter Holga

Where did this week go??? Not that I'm not glad that it is Friday (although I have to work this weekend) but things went fast this week. I have been busy working on wedding photos from last weekend, as well as my first-ever maternity session yesterday! It was really fun and we set up a mini studio in the nursery! Besides all the editing I have been doing, it has snowed here and spring has been halted right in it's tracks. I even made out out climbing on Monday.... but alas, snow came on Tuesday.

Last weekend was full of cross-country skiing and this weekend I am heading to Iowa! Hopefully I will take more pictures this weekend:) I have continued with my 365 project, although honestly, I have been distracted by daily work and a few side projects.

If these photos are any indication I have been working a lot, I don't know what would be.

Driving home from Pittsville last night. I love the bridge and have taken a few photos of it so far. Here it looks pretty creepy. Last night was really, really cold. There was no one out and the roads were really quiet.

Winter Holgas

 Here are a few new winter Holgas from cross-country skiing and snowshoeing this winter

 Dan skiing on Rock Dam Lake. It was a challenge, there was water over the ice and under the snow. Our skis kept getting wet so we would have to stop and knock off all the ice.

First Official Snowstorm

Yesterday, Saturday, was the first official big snow up here in Wisconsin. It was a big one, about 12 inches. I know from first-hand experience since I had to work this weekend and take pictures of people shoveling or snowblowing. Luckily, my car never got completely stuck and my lovely boyfriend shoveled me out, then towed me out of work in the evening. I parked along the road and was plowed in.

I photographed this on Central Avenue in Marshfield last night. There weren't a lot of people out, obviously., and it was kind of lonely and windy. This guy only had cowboy boots and a Carhart jacket on and looked cold.  I shot it with my new Mark IV (whoot!) and have been having a blast shooting in low-light situations with high ISOs.

It Felt Like Winter...

It felt like winter yesterday in central Wisconsin. Snow flakes fell for the first time this year.

This isn't from yesterday, but is one of my favorite winter photos. I took it while snowshoeing in the Clark County Forest.

Holga Photographs

I love weeks when I have holga film to pick up. It is fun to experiment and break the digital cycle.

 

 I shot this photo with my Holga on "bulb" setting, where the shooter controls how long the shutter is open. I photographed it while I was cross-country skiing at Wildcat Mountain, hence the motion blur.

Ice Age Trail

The Ice Age Trail is my favorite trail in Wisconsin. I went snowshoeing today on it in Underdown, in Lincoln County.

  

  

I like pictures of dead flowers or dead plants in the winter. I like the stark outlines they make.

Winter

I am off for the following week due to a furlough. I prefer to call these "furcations", because really, who doesn't want a week off?

Hopefully I will be able to do some of these winter activities and go exploring!
