Recent Work Photos

I have been really busy with work lately, driving about 120 miles a day all over Central Wisconsin. So I don't have a lot of non-work photos to share. Although on Easter, I did manage a lovely 40 mile road ride and didn't actually have to work!

There has been a lot of rain... and many games have been canceled.

Portfolio night at Grant Elementary School in Wisconsin Rapids. I have never played Dance Dance Revolution, but it looked awesome.

A photo exhibit at the UW-Marshfield/Wood County. This wall is pictures of all the US soldiers that have lost their lives in battles since September 11, 2001. The exhibit is called Always Lost.

An Easter egg hunt in Stevens Point.

Normally I dislike Easter Egg hunts. I once photographed an adult Easter Egg hunt (which was sponsored by a strip club) in Iowa City. There was a huge circle and everyone had to race to get eggs, once of which had a free car in it! Awesome, right? Not really. The free car was a 1999 Ford Probe. I also got run into by some guy. I was obviously out in the middle of the field, to get photos, and I Had been there awhile. I have the photos as he gets closer and closer and then photos of the sky. He totally knocked me on my butt into the mud, my camera hit my face, cut my lip and cracked my front tooth. I was trying to get names and someone woman was all, "Honey, you have blood all over your face." Yeah. I know. I also now have a fake tooth. So, I don't have a fondness for Easter Egg hunts. This one in Point was not as violent, but I did have to sprint a few blocks to make it there on-time. Oh the stress of back-to-back Easter egg hunts 20 miles apart!

Packing up Girl Scout Cookies to send to the troops in Afghanistan. They shipped over 600 boxes!

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of touring the Veolia landfill and recycling center with third graders from Pittsville Elementary School. We got to drive to the top of the landfill where they were currently dumping lots and lots and lots of garbage. I was a little nervous about how the bus wheels would fare on top of the garbage mound. I kept picturing a group of 40 third grades trying to push the bus out of the mud/garbage. That would be horrible! The landfill started getting filled in 1982, the year of my birth. It has nine more years in operation before it has to expand. Wow. It was weird to think of my lifetime worth of garbage underneath all those mounds, it made me nervous, actually. I think I am gong to step-up my home recycling program and try to find some other ways to consume less. Just image.... seagulls and plastic bags everywhere!

Last Year's Spring...

Today there is about 4 inches of snow on the ground. It is sad, but I am trying not to think about it. I did manage to get some spring photos though...not! These are from last year around this time. I do enjoy Wisconsin's spring, but right now all I want is for it to be warm. I don't mind if we skip quickly into summer.

Jessica + Will's Early April Wedding :: Marshfield, Wisconsin Wedding Photography

Last Friday evening I had the opportunity to photograph Jessica and Will's early April wedding. They got married at The Chestnut Center for the Arts in Marshfield, Wisconsin, which was a lovely location. There was tons of cool old furniture and mirrors around, and the afternoon light coming through the windows was beautiful. It was really fun to to be there as the girls got ready and did last-minute wedding preparation. But, my favorite part of the wedding was Jessica and Will's vows that they wrote for each other. It was pretty much one of the sweetest ceremony I have ever been to :) Congratulations Jessica and Will!!!

April!

It has been quite a few days since I blogged... so many that I missed April! Well, the first day. I was musing over how slow March passed, and during that period, I went a week into April! Oh well. I have been busy editing wedding photos and planning spring. Here are a few photos from my 365 project!

Still some snow on the farm.
Filling the Jeep with sap. My arms were really sore after carrying one full bucket not very far. I might be a wimp.

 Collecting more sap.

I found some green shoots! This was the highlight of my weekend:)

Cooking more sap by the fire.

My house plants. When I forget to take a photo for the day or am bored with photo, I usually end up taking a photo of my plants.

Today has been slightly frustrating, so I thought I would share one of my favorite poems (that randomly pops into my head when I am having a bad day) which is by Shel Silverstein
